LAGRANGE, Ga. — Zero.
By 1:30 p.m. Thursday, that’s how many bass Keith Combs of Huntington, Texas, believed he’d end up weighing in on the first day of the West Point Lake Battle, the fourth event of the Bassmaster Elite Series season. In six hours of casting, he had not had one bite.
Suddenly, “Things just started to roll,” he said.
Combs ended the day leading the tournament after weighing 15 pounds, 14 ounces. He was 4 ounces in front of Greg Vinson of Wetumpka, Ala., who turned in 15-10. Behind Combs and Vinson was the 2013 Bassmaster Classic champ, Cliff Pace of Petal, Miss.,...

ZAPATA, Texas — Ordinarily, there's only one winner in a bass tournament. This one was different. The Rigid Industries Falcon Slam produced way more than its share of champions.
Not necessarily in order and not all-inclusive, the winners were:

How big of a role did Keith Combs' vast experience on Falcon Lake play in his Bassmaster Elite Series victory there? It almost can't be overstated.
"It was probably the only reason I was able to catch them the way I did," said the Huntington, Texas resident who spends much of the winter season guiding on the border impoundment. "Say if I went to Guntersville, which I've been to a few times, and pulled up on a ledge and fished it three to five times without catching anything, I'm going to scratch that ledge off my hit list.
"At Falcon, there's 10 to 15 really...

CONROE, Texas – After a week of slugging it out like Hagler and Hearns in their epic late-1980s battle, Powerline Services pro Keith Combs and Toyota pro Mike Iaconelli only needed one 14-inch fish to finish the deal following a monster week at the Toyota Texas Bass Classic.
Iaconelli, the veteran from New Jersey with a Bassmaster Classic and B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year title, and Combs, the up-and-coming Texan with his rookie Elite Series season just under his belt, battled in the 1-2 positions for three days on Lake Conroe. Combs led each day, with Iaconelli sitting in the catbird seat to overtake...

CONROE, Texas – Two big flurries of activity and one record-setting bite helped the top three anglers take command of the leaderboard Friday at the Toyota Texas Bass Classic.
Powerline Services pro Keith Combs of Texas had a record-setting day on Lake Conroe to take the lead with a stunning five-bass limit weighing 28 pounds, 8 ounces. That catch was anchored by a 10-8 largemouth he caught about three hours into the day that claimed ATX Wheels Big Bass award.
Both were individual TTBC records for Lake Conroe. This is the third season for the tournament on Conroe; the first two tournaments...

Power Tackle Pro Keith Combs ended up in 8th place after the final round of the Citrus Slam in Florida. Combs said of the event, “I started each day with a Senko when I couldn’t see them. After the sun got up and I could see the fish, I went to work with a Lateral Perch and a Strike King Game Hawg.” After the fist day, he had to search for new fish because most of what he found in practice were gone by the end of the day. Combs used two different rods that were key, a Power Tackle PG 144 for the Senko and a PG 104.5 for the Hawg and Perch. “The fish were in heavy grass and with...

Ranger Pro Keith Combs gives us the lowdown from FLW event on Okeechobee.
Combs said he didn’t have that great of a practice and only had one small area, finishing in 45th place after a 18th place first round. “I lost one today over seven that cost me making the top 20, but that’s fishing.” Keith said the 90 degree temps really made the fish move up over the last couple of days and most guys were catching them site fishing or on a Skinny Dipper/ buzz type frog. “I just made the best of what I had.” Keith is headed to the St. John’s river for a few days then its off to the Big Easy...

We caught back up with Power Tackle Pro Keith Combs after the final round on Texoma. Here’s how it went down. Combs said day two was “a perfect day”. Clouds and wind helped line up a shallow cranking bite and that’s the game he likes to play. He caught them on days one and 3 on a green pumpkin Strike King Perfect Plastic.
11.30 on day three found Keith with an empty live well after fishing some areas he had saved for the final. He rolled back to a point he started on and caught 2 keepers quick (on the worm) then headed to a creek he was saving, but it yielded no bites....

DENISON, Texas -- Keith Combs consistency carried him to the top of the leaderboard on the second day of the final 2010 Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Central Open on Lake Texoma. Combs of Del Rio, Texas, registered one of only five limits Friday -- up from three on Thursday -- which weighed 11 pounds, 10 ounces, upgrading his two-day total to 20-6.
"Today was a good day," he said. "I went out to get five bites doing the same thing I did yesterday, and it just worked better."
Combs was tossing a crankbait and a worm, though he declined to reveal specifics on either....
