Wins By 16-Plus Rayburn Rout: Marks Catches 32-12, Claims First Tour Win

By BassFan Staff Keith Combs was sure someone was going to unload on a sack of Sam Rayburn Reservoir giants at some point this week. Several fish in the 6- to 7-pound range had been weighed in, but those were kickers accompanied by four other 2 1/2-pounders mostly. Nobody had been able to put together a 20-pound bag or better through 3 days. The lake just wasn’t showing its true potential, Combs kept saying. Turns out he was right. Thrift wins on Lake Conroe

It came down to the wire on Lake Conroe for defending champion and Texas native Keith Combs to pull off the repeat victory, but he fell just short of keeping the title. After an unprecedented 11 anglers competed on Sunday, Bryan Thrift, of Shelbyville, NC, was crowned The Toyota Texas Bass Classic champion. With a dominating Sunday, Thrift bested second place angler and 2010 TTBC Champion Brian Snowden at the world championship of professional bass fishing. Huntingston angler Keith Combs came in third. Combs Wins in 2011: A TTBC Look-back

The 2012 Texas Bass Classic kicks off on Friday morning at Lake Conroe Texas. The TTBC brings together most of the top 15 qualifiers from each of the BASS Elite Series, FLW Tour and PAA tours from the 2012 season. With the best of the best in attendance, the TTBC crowns an overall champion. In 2011 the event came down to a sudden death fish off between two of the best anglers anywhere. The Ethanol Question with Keith Combs

Before we discuss what ethanol can do to your motor and why you need to take precautions lets first discuss why it’s in our gas tanks to begin with. In the 1990’s the US government issued a series of amendments to the Clean Air Act that required oxygenated gasoline. To make a long story short, that led to the use of MTBE (methyl tert-butyl ether) in gasoline. It was cheap and kept the octane ratings high.
